What is Flextime?

Flextime is a super easy web app that keeps track of your flextime. When your working overtime, you simply put in the extra time. When you're leaving early on friday you remove some hours instead. It is dead easy.

Flextime is developed by Anders Björk.


Why bother?

If you're only getting paid for a set number of hours, there's no good reason to work more than that. Your time has value, and every minute you give away for free is time you could have spent resting, being with people you care about, or doing something that actually matters to you. That’s why tracking your time isn't just about being organized—it’s about protecting your boundaries.

When you track your time, you make the invisible visible. It becomes clear how much you’re actually working, and whether that matches what you're being paid for. Without tracking, it’s easy to slip into the habit of working longer than necessary—answering one more email, fixing a small detail, or just trying to keep up. But that unpaid overtime adds up. It’s energy you’re giving away without return.

Keeping tabs on your hours also helps you make better decisions. You can push back when expectations start creeping beyond your contract. You can see when a task or client takes up more time than it should, and either renegotiate or restructure your work. And just as importantly, you can give yourself permission to stop when the time’s up—guilt-free.

Time tracking isn’t about being rigid or obsessed with numbers. It’s about being fair to yourself. If no one else is watching out for your time, you should be.
